Elegance in Harmony with Nature Montana's Winterwood Offers Unique Luxuries and Seclusion Secluded on a forested hilltop with expansive views of Flathead Valley, Winterwood is one of Montana's premier residential properties. A winding entry driveway leads visitors through pine woodlands to reveal a cascading waterfall and ponds; deer and other wildlife are often seen grazing in the lower meadow. Care has been taken to keep the landscaping around this fifty-nine acre estate in harmony with the surrounding natural beauty. The entry foyer of the 9,500-square-foot main residence opens to a dramatic sunken living room with tranquil treetop views, and a formal dining room featuring a glass wall that opens to an elevated patio offering sweeping vistas. The gourmet kitchen boasts professional cooking appliances including a Viking range, Sub-zero refrigerator, two dishwashers, and a built-in deep fryer/steamer as well as custom maple cabinetry, two large islands, and granite countertops. The cook's pantry features a computer workstation and abundant storage. Adjacent to the kitchen is a cozy family room with a built-in entertainment center featuring a large-screen TV, towering windows that frame views of Flathead Lake, and a large stone fireplace. The spacious veranda overlooks the waterfall and ponds. On the opposite end of the main floor, custom leaded glass doors lead to the cherrywood library, complete with fireplace and terrace, and the 1,000-square-foot master suite with a marble fireplace, sitting area, dressing room, and oversized bath with jetted spa tub. Two half baths, a large mudroom and laundry room complete the upper level. The main staircase descends past a custom etched glass windows to the home's lower level, where there are three guest suites and a large office with a fireplace. One of the estate's most unique features is the Swan Theatre where Designer Theo Kalomirakis, has recreated an opulent home entertainment complex reminiscent of movie palaces of the 1930s. “Tillie-The-Ticket-Taker,” a life-sized soft sculpture by Lisa Lichtenfels, awaits guests in the theatre box office in a street corner setting. Original movie posters adorn the building facade of brick and faux limestone, and the marquee is illuminated with theater lights and a bold neon sign announcing the Swan Theatre . Twinkling fiber optic stars reflect their light in the black marble floor. As guests enter the double glass doors, the outer lobby comes into view featuring original photographs of the great stars of the era. The Grand Lobby has gold accented capitols crowning fourteen pilasters, and an antique chandelier hangs from a ceiling medallion. The refreshment area is complete with a black marble counter top bar, refrigerator, and theater popcorn machine as well as video/DVD library storage. For guests' convenience, there is a Ladies' powder room and Gentlemen's bathroom. The bowed walls of the auditorium are lined with sixteen wooden pilasters and sconces. Backlit grills, originally found in an old church and fabricated by the Warner Brothers' staff shop, fill the alcoves. The sixteen oversized seats, arranged stadium style, and full-length Austrian curtain are burgundy velvet. Young thespians will love to perform on the stage, complete with footlights. Guests at the Swan Theatre can enjoy the latest movie or the Superbowl as the Ampro front projection system supports Laser, VHS, DVD and Direct TV, and the line quadrupler gives a theater-quality picture whatever the source. The eleven- foot screen has automatic masking for letterbox and television mode. All controls, including the THX sound system, are handled from an AMX touch screen with functions to raise the curtain, dim the lights, and start the show. In addition to the main house, Winterwood has a 2,156 square-foot garage with a 1,400 square-foot studio on its second story. Both the studio and garage have custom cabinetry, dumb waiter, and half baths. Winterwood's special features and superior workmanship extend beyond the visible as well. There are eleven furnaces, allowing for complete heating/air-conditioning zoning throughout the house. A state-of-the-art security system is in place, along with a commercial phone/intercom system covering the house, garage and studio. AMX panels throughout the home and outside entertainment areas control music and lighting. An elevator is discretely placed in the hallway, allowing for easy access to the upper and lower levels. Outside, the 942 square-foot equipment building holds a 9,000-gallon water tank and 100-kilowatt back-up generator. There is also a year-round greenhouse.
