As her career skyrocketed in the '90s, earning her Grammy, World Music, Juno and Felix Awards, she became the Queen of contemporary pop. Moreover, Céline's journey has been nothing short of amazing. This superstar was born into humble beginnings in Charlemagne, a small town east of Montreal, Québec, Canada. The youngest of 14 children, Céline sang with her siblings and eventually composed a song that changed her destiny. She will be forever remembered as the gifted pre-adolescent, who transformed herself into a superstar. International stardom followed after Céline recorded the title track for Disney's Beauty and the Beast, earning her a Grammy and a platinum album. By the time 'D'eux rolled out, Céline had introduced French music to the upper reaches of the British charts, crossing all barriers in the process. Her upward spiral continued from there. In March 1996, Céline's Falling Into You, became the bestseller of the year and earned her another Grammy. Although her career has kept her on the move, Céline continues to make time for worthy causes. In fact, the song “Fly” from Falling Into You, was a living memorial for Céline's niece, Karine, who was struck ill and eventually died from Cystic Fibrosis. Céline's most unforgettable songs is the theme to James Cameron's blockbuster movie Titanic. “My Heart Will Go On,” written by James Horner and Walter Afanasieff, quickly became the love song of choice, and embodied endless love. In addition to the movie soundtrack, Céline's album Let's Talk about Love contained the hit song. Both albums sold more than 27 million copies worldwide, setting records in the process. Not surprisingly, Céline was asked to perform “My Heart Will Go On” live at the 70th Annual Academy Awards. For Céline, that evening was a dream come true, as her song won the Academy for Best Original Song. Céline's achievements continued, and in 1998, Dundurn Press released her highly anticipated biography, entitled Céline: The Authorized Biography. Author Georges-Hébert Germain traveled with Céline for more than a year to write the tell-all book. The two collaborated once more with Céline Dion: My Story, My Dream, which was released in 2000. On New Year's Eve 1999, in Montreal, Canada, Céline Dion gave her last public performance before slipping out of the public eye. It was during this period that Céline and her husband René experienced their greatest joy: The birth of their son René-Charles Angélil. In March 2002, Céline ended her two-year break when she released the album A New Day Has Come. Within two weeks, the album climbed to number one on the charts in more than 17 countries. From romantic ballads, such as “I Surrender,” to breathtaking dance beats, such as “Sorry for Love,” fans loved Céline's return. To help her launch the new album, Céline appeared on numerous TV specials and graced the covers of magazines everywhere. The follow up to last year's chart topper is One Heart, which also marks the performer's return to the stage. One Heart includes Céline's renditions of Roy Orbison's “I Drove All Night” and features songs produced by Ric Wake, Anders Bagge, Kristian Lundin, Peer Astrom, Max Martin, Mark Taylor, Erick Benzi and Humberto Gatica. The release of the album coincided with Céline's three-year engagement at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. In March 2003, Céline began appearing five nights a week at The Colosseum, a 4000-seat arena at Caesars Palace designed specifically for her show. A 90-minute event, A New Day introduces fans to a new form of entertainment: A fusion of song, performance art, theatrical innovation and state-of-the-art technology. The show was created by Franco Dragone, who was the creative genius behind several of the critically acclaimed Cirque du Soleil productions. Although Céline has managed to break record after record in the music industry, Québec's favorite daughter has not stopped there. To coincide with Céline's Las Vegas show, Coty Beauty launched Céline Dion Parfums, a collection of eau de toilette, body lotion and shower gels. Balanced with warm, rich amber, sheer musk and pristine blonde woods, the result is a scent that is perfect for everyday, yet still sophisticated enough for special occasions. “I think this fragrance is such a special and intimate pleasure; a unique way of expressing oneself. I want my fragrance to bring joy and inspire us all to seize the day and live life to its fullest. I believe that this scent truly expresses who I am, and I hope that women will love it as much as I do,” says Céline.
